My personal favorite spot to go in town is Lake Wilson. Its main feature (in my opinion) is the 2-mile walking trail that goes all the way around the lake. This is the most beautiful and peaceful walk I’ve ever taken. So many spectacular things to look at while you get your cardio in! They also have created a disc golf course on the right-hand and rear sides of the lake. I’m not very familiar with that sport, but I’ve seen lots of people out there enjoying that feature. Many also go fishing and canoeing out there! As you bike or walk around the trail (no motorized vehicles allowed), they have benches strategically placed so you can stop and enjoy the scenery. I highly recommend you taking an hour out of your day to take in this slice of Heaven on Earth! Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park is simply a must see! The 2-acre park features 30 of Vollis Simpson’s locally famous whirligigs! They are absoultely amazing to view and watch turn in the breeze. The park also features a stage for live concerts. Every year in November, Wilson holds the Whirligig Festival too. Oh! And be sure not to miss the laser light show they hold at Christmas time! You will NOT regret that!

The third (and final) hidden treasure I would like to share with you is Wilson Botanical Garden. I was introduced to this spot about six years ago and absolutely fell in love with it! Not only is is a breathtaking, quiet spot to visit, but they also offer FREE monthly garden talks by Master Gardners. Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own wreaths? Well, they’re having 2 different workshops to choose from on Deceber 4th 2023! You will find the link to register here. Home | Wilson Botanical Gardens This little diamond is a whopping 6 acres of stunning, unique gardening! I highly recommend you take a little time out of your day to walk through this spot. My favorite part is the Venus fly traps!
